Family Controls / iOS Screen Time issues

Last verified: May 2026

Current status

The iOS companion app is currently waitlist-only. Apple has granted FocusDragon the Family Controls entitlement, but the app is not yet in general release on the App Store. If you're looking for iPhone or iPad blocking today, join the waitlist at focusdragon.app/ios.

What Family Controls will do when iOS ships

  • Cross-device blocks — start a block on your Mac, it propagates to your iPhone and iPad through your FocusDragon account.
  • App and website blocking on iOS via Apple's ManagedSettings + DeviceActivity APIs (the same primitives Screen Time uses).
  • Locked blocks that survive iOS app uninstall — same brand promise as on macOS.
Family Controls is Apple's framework for third-party Screen Time integrations. The first time you enable a FocusDragon block on iOS, the system will prompt you to authorise Screen Time access — that's Apple's framing, not ours, and the prompt mentions Family Sharing even when you're self-monitoring.

Troubleshooting today

If you have an iOS issue right now, the most likely answer is: that feature isn't shipped yet. The Mac app is the only general-release product on focusdragon.app at the moment — see /ios for waitlist status.
