Frozen Turkey lock — deep dive

Last verified: May 2026

What it does

Frozen is a Timer with no exit ramp. The block is active for a duration you set at creation, and during that window there is no password, no random text, no override of any kind. The block disables itself when the duration ends.

When this is the right call

  • Exam prep, thesis crunch, board deck deadline — situations where any escape would be used.
  • No-internet weekends you've committed to in advance.
  • Recovery from a relapse where softer locks have stopped working.

How to configure

  • Set Lock Type to Frozen.
  • Set Frozen Duration. Default is 60 minutes; pick the actual length of the commitment.
  • Choose a Frozen Mode if you want device-level enforcement (lock screen on schedule, etc.).
  • Optionally list Allowed Apps that remain reachable during the freeze.
There is no support intervention path. We will not unlock a Frozen block early on request. This isn't a policy choice — there's deliberately no mechanism. If the brand could be cajoled into unlocking, every user would try.

Common misconfig

  • Setting a multi-day Frozen on critical apps you actually need (email for a job hunt, banking for rent week).
  • Forgetting that the duration counts wall-clock, not focus time — a 48-hour Frozen runs through your sleep.
  • Layering Frozen on a block you haven't yet tested with milder locks.
