Troubleshooting

I can't disable a Locked block

Last verified: May 2026

Symptoms

You try to stop a block early and the app refuses. The disable button is greyed out, requires a timer to run out, or demands you type a long random string.

This is the feature

Locked blocks are the entire reason FocusDragon exists. Timer locks, password locks, random-text locks, and Frozen mode are designed to make early-exit harder than just pushing through the urge. If they could be cancelled with a button, they wouldn't be locks.

Unlock conditions

  • Timer lock — wait until the countdown reaches zero.
  • Random-text lock — type the displayed random string correctly. There is no shortcut.
  • Password lock — enter the password you set at block creation. We do not store or recover it.
  • Frozen lock — wait the full configured cool-down window.
Support cannot bypass a locked block on your behalf. There is no admin override, no master password, no recovery flow. This is the security model — anything else would let an attacker (or a desperate version of you) social-engineer their way out.

Genuine emergencies

If you need to use a blocked tool for a medical or safety emergency, see the "Fatal mistake recovery" guide. The nuclear options there work, but they cost you the full lock duration to set up. They exist for a reason — keep them in your back pocket; don't treat them as a normal escape hatch.
