YouTube and your focus

The tutorial is useful. The next ten videos aren’t.

Blocking all of YouTube is a blunt choice when your lesson is there too. AI Focus gives your viewing a purpose: the goal you set before you start.

One website can serve two very different intentions.

You might open YouTube to understand a difficult concept, follow a software tutorial or review a recorded lecture. Those are different activities from browsing unrelated entertainment, even though the address bar can look almost identical. A domain-level block treats the destination as a single decision.

AI Focus adds screen context to that decision. If your goal is to learn a particular technique, a relevant explanation can support it. An unrelated video can be judged off task. This is an example of how goal-based checking is intended to work, not a promise that every video will be classified correctly.

Describe what the video is helping you finish.

Instead of ‘Watch YouTube,’ try ‘Learn how to solve integration by parts questions and complete five practice problems.’ The video is now a resource for an outcome. You can use the same idea for a tutorial: ‘Implement the login form, using React documentation and relevant walkthroughs.’

Keep your notes or project ready before the block begins. That makes it easier to turn the explanation into work instead of making another video the next step. AI Focus supplies an external interruption when you drift; you still choose what you are learning and what you produce from it.

Understand what happens when a distraction is caught.

FocusDragon checks the screen during your active AI block. If two consecutive checks find off-task activity, it closes the browser or app and applies a cooldown. It does not simply remove one recommendation, hide a feed or close only the offending tab.

That distinction matters if you keep a document, meeting or unsaved form in another tab. Save first, and plan your block around an interruption that can close the whole browser. There is no claim that this is a browser extension that selectively filters individual YouTube videos.

Choose a full block when you do not need YouTube.

Sometimes the right decision is simpler: YouTube has no role in the task. In that case, add it to a regular website block. A known distraction does not need an AI judgment every time if you already know you want it unavailable.

Use AI Focus for sessions where the same site can contain necessary work and tempting detours. Use a conventional block when the site itself is outside your plan. The point is to protect the work, not to make every session more complicated.

Before you start

Does AI Focus block all YouTube videos?

AI Focus assesses the screen against your goal; it is not a blanket YouTube block. If you want all of YouTube blocked, use a regular website block.

Does it close only the distracting YouTube tab?

No. After two consecutive off-task checks it closes the browser or app and applies a cooldown. Save work in other tabs before starting.

Can it distinguish educational and entertainment videos perfectly?

No. It makes an AI judgment using screenshots and your goal, and mistakes are possible. Relevant viewing depends on the actual task, not just whether a video is labeled educational.

See the AI Focus privacy details. Closing an app or browser can lose unsaved work.

The next block can have a different ending.

Choose the task. Set the goal. Give the dragon a job.
